David Ward, founder of DW Associates, has been admitted to the Register of Chartered Security Professionals. This prestigious accolade is recognised as The Gold Standard of competence in security and represents the highest standard of competency with fewer than 300 people globally attaining the status.
The Register of Chartered Security Professionals was established in 2011 under a Royal Charter issued to The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals and is managed by the Security Institute. Chartered Status is extremely hard to achieve involving individuals undergoing a rigours application process where their strategic impact and competencies in five areas of security are verified. The interview selection process also involves providing written papers and evidence of 10 years professionalism within the industry.
Registrants use CSyP as a post nominal and are called Chartered Security Professionals, each member must comply with a code of conduct and is required to annually undertake continuous professional development.
David Ward began his career over 25 years ago and has worked at every level of the security industry. In 2000, he founded Ward Security a company which under his direction grew to become one of the leading security companies in the UK. When he left his Chief Executive position in 2021 the business had a turnover of £45m employing over 1,000 security personnel. David is passionate about the security industry and developing strong links between law enforcement agencies, local and national government and private sector businesses. He is the creator of the City Security Council and also Chair of the Cross Sector Safety and Security Communications in the Southeast Region.
David Ward said “I am extremely proud to have attained Chartered Status. I have always firmly believed in committing to being the very best I can be whatever role I held or profession I worked in. I would encourage everyone no matter where you are on the career ladder to constantly look to self-development and once you have the experience consider working towards Chartered Status. As someone who is not an academic and never went to University I was a bit concerned about the requirement to write essays but I surprised myself with how much I enjoyed that aspect of the process. It is well worth the reward and I am delighted to have achieved the privilege of chartered status.”
